Bigger (quieter?) MacBook HD

I bought a 160GB hard drive and an external USB enclosure and upgraded the MacBook using the helpful guide at The Global Photographer. It’s an easy enough process, and won’t present a challenge to anyone confident enough to upgrade a hard drive in a PC.

I’d hoped the drive would be a bit quieter, and it may be (very slightly) but it’s still nothing like as quiet as my iBook was.

Oh well, at least I’ve now got 116GB free where I only had 42GB before.

External Drive
And an 80GB external drive. And the total cost was still £40 less than had I gone for the 160GB drive upgrade when I ordered from Apple.

One Day Sale

There’s a one day sale at the Apple Store, the European equivalent to the Thanksgiving Sale in the US.

I’m eyeing up the discounts on Toast and Parallels, but even though there’s a generous discount on the Airport Express, I think I’ll wait on that, since I’ve a hunch that after Christmas we’ll be getting the 802.11n version to accompany iTV (and the size of the discount convinces me of it).
