Nothing has appeared in my Doctor Who new feeds, and the
page has been removed from the Guardian, but they announced Tennant’s departure…
David Tennant has announced that he is vacating the Tardis and leaving the BBC’s Doctor Who series at the end of next year.
Tennant’s decision brings to an end his popular four-year tenure as the time lord.
The BBC confirmed that the Scottish actor will complete the filming of four special episodes to be screened this year and in early 2010, as well as 2009’s Christmas special.
More details soon …
I can’t work out if this means he’s doing any of season 31 or not. I assumed he would leave at the end of the season (best case scenario) but we knew he’d stay for the specials. Without the detail, there’s no story here?
Update: Sadly, it is confirmed. I think it would have been wonderful continuity, not to mention great to have more Tennant, if he’d stayed for another season.
My name is Simon and my favorite Doctor is 10.
So does this mean David Morrissey really is the Next Doctor?
