  1. Aha, they look like apples but are very hard and quite sharp (when raw). They are also exremely aromatic. The whole room you store them in will smell a kind of sweet pear smell.

    When cooked they have a more delicate flavour than apples but stay firmer, and are less sweet, than pears.

    Wikipedia says the pips are poisonous. Did not know that. Lucky I didn’t eat any of them (though no idea why I woud). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quince

  3. Mmmm, quince tart looks terribly tasty.

    I have a jar of the outlaws’ quince marmalade which I’ve not tried yet. Saving it for a special occasion/ rainy day.
