  1. I wonder what hardware configuration that other person was running.

I’ve not seen anything like that in Safari on my MacBook. (Older than yours, if I recall correctly).

That video looks like a video card driver problem, something in the refresh during the scrolling operation. Have they changed the video subsystem since the introduction of the MacBook?

    My config for the graphics:

    Chipset Model: GMA 950

    Type: Display

    Bus: Built-In

VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory

    Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

    Device ID: 0x27a2

    Revision ID: 0x0003

  3. Thanks for the info. I’m not sure what it means, mine says this:

Which would appear to be identical. Safari is version 3.0.4.

The “bug” is so smooth, it almost appears to be a feature.

  5. That video did have a certain deliberate feel to it. I couldn’t find anything in preferences in Safari that might account for that. I also looked and didn’t find anyone else with the problem. Does it happen all the time?

Do you have “smooth scrolling” turned on in System Preferences?

  7. It’s off. Though I don’t know what it is.

I couldn’t find anything in preferences in Safari either. I’m not sure what to call it, so it was hard getting even that one hit on Google.

It doesn’t happen all the time. My new theory is that maybe it has something to do with an external monitor I’ve been occasionally connecting since around the same time I put Safari on, though there’s not good reason to suppose a connection…

  9. I’m not really sure what difference it makes, either, but I noticed a few support messages concerning problems with Safari 3 when smooth scrolling was on.

Might be time to post an inquiry to discussions.apple.com
